Experience the freedom with the ENGWE EP-2 Boost – legal electric bike with power and comfort.

The ENGWE EP-2 Boost is here to redefine your commute – with powerful torque, smart engine assistance and a range of up to 120 km. But the most unique thing? It is completely legal to drive as an electric bicycle throughout the EU. Perfect for those who want maximum performance without the hassle of registration or insurance required for moped-rated electric vehicles. With upgrades from the previous EP-2 Pro model, this variant is both smarter, smoother and more responsive – while still delivering raw power when you need it.

Smarter electric cycling – completely legal in the EU.

Unlike many other powerful electric bikes, the EP-2 Boost is adapted to EU electric bike regulations. It has a 250W motor and a top speed of 25 km/h - which means you avoid registration, insurance requirements and helmet compulsion (for adults). No electric mode? That's right - and that's exactly why it's perfectly legal. But don't be fooled by the rules. Thanks to the smart torque sensor, you get an assistance that feels both natural and powerful in every pedal stroke.

Long range for smooth commuting.

With a powerful 48V 13Ah battery, you can go up to 120 km on a single charge in hybrid mode. The removable battery makes charging convenient - bring it into the home or office and charge while you work. Whether you're commuting daily or heading out on a weekend adventure, you'll always have enough capacity for the entire trip, without the worry of standing still.

Torque that takes you up every hill.

The big difference between the EP-2 Boost and its predecessor the EP-2 Pro is how the power is delivered. With the new Boost system, you get a torque of 55Nm which is activated immediately when you pedal. The result? A supple and strong driving experience - especially on uphills. This isn't just an upgrade – it's a whole new level of control.

Comfort for city and off-road.

The wide 20x4.0-inch tires handle both city streets and rough roads with stability. Front shock absorbers absorb vibrations and bumps, giving you a comfortable ride regardless of the surface. That makes the EP-2 Boost an obvious choice both for city commuting and for those who like to explore new trails on the weekend.

High load capacity - perfect for delivery and everyday use.

With a maximum load of 150 kg, the EP-2 Boost is a reliable companion even when you have a lot to carry. The bicycle is therefore not only a means of transport for commuters, but also a real tool for e.g. couriers and deliveries in an urban environment. Large disc brakes (180 mm) provide quick and safe braking even with heavy loads.

Foldable frame - take it everywhere.

Despite its robust construction, the EP-2 Boost is easy to carry. The foldable frame allows you to fold the bike quickly and take it with you in the car, on the train or conveniently store it at home. Perfect for those who commute with several modes of transport or have limited space.

Modern display with full overview.

The integrated LCD display shows speed, battery level and mileage in real time – everything you need to plan your trips efficiently. You also get access to information about which driving mode you are in, for optimal control all the way.

Upgrades from EP-2 Pro - why Boost is the smarter choice.

The previous model EP-2 Pro offered great power, but was not legal to ride as an e-bike within the EU without registration. The EP-2 Boost is designed from the ground up to comply with regulations – while offering the same, if not better, driving experience. The differences are that the Boost lacks an electric drive mode, has a more sophisticated power transmission system and is equipped with a smart torque sensor that provides a more natural cycling feel.

Laws & regulations

Electric scooter
An electric scooter is considered a bicycle if it has a maximum speed of 20 km/h and a motor with no more than 250 W. However, it is important to note that the limit applies to the continuous (nominal) power - which means that the electric scooter can temporarily have a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W.

If the electric scooter exceeds 20 km/h in speed or has a motor with more than 250 W nominal power, different rules apply. The next classification is Moped class II and thereafter Moped class I. There are technical requirements, such as braking systems, that must be met for an electric scooter to be classified as a moped.

Essentially, if it reaches up to 25 km/h it is considered as Moped class II, while if the speed exceeds 40 km/h and the motor is stronger than 250 W, it is classified as Moped class I. For Moped Class I, an AM license is required, the vehicle must be registered, and a helmet must be worn. Moped class II requires a driver's license and mandatory use of a helmet. If the electric scooter does not meet the requirements for bicycle, moped class I or II it gets it not to be used on public roads.

Electric bike
For the requirements to apply to an electric bicycle, the motor must be limited to 250 W nominal (continuous) power and only assist the pedaling up to 25 km/h. This means that the engine can temporarily deliver a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W. The electric bicycle must also be pedaled for the motor to work - so it must not drive on its own without the user's pedaling power.

Deviation from these requirements results in the vehicle being classified as moped, which entails other technical requirements, mandatory registration, driver's license and insurance.

We strongly recommend the use of a helmet, especially if the driver is under the age of 15, although it is not mandatory.

Read our blog posts for more information about which rules apply around electric scooters and electric bikes.
