Product description

Folding electric bike for flexible urban commuting.

The DYU SP1 is a folding electric bike for those who want to combine smooth transport with a compact and lightweight format. It weighs just 14 kg and can be folded in seconds, making it easy to take on the train, store at the office or fit in a car boot. The removable battery solution also gives it an unusually flexible everyday character. Use the motor assistance when you want to arrive without breaking a sweat, or take out the battery and keep pedalling like on a regular bike. The DYU SP1 is equally well suited to daily commuting and to journeys where several modes of transport need to be combined.

Removable battery with powerbank function.

This folding electric bike runs on a removable LG battery with a capacity of 24V 5Ah, equivalent to 120Wh. The battery is released with a simple motion and can be charged separately at home or at work, so you do not need to carry the whole bike to a power socket. A full charge takes approximately three to four hours and gives a range of up to 30 kilometres, depending on terrain, temperature, load and assistance level. The battery also has a USB-A port that can be used to charge a mobile phone or GPS device. This makes the DYU SP1 a practical electric bike even on longer days out.

Natural assistance with torque sensor.

The DYU SP1 is a folding electric bike that adapts the motor assistance to how hard you are pedalling. The integrated torque sensor detects pedal pressure and adjusts the assistance continuously. The result is a smooth and natural cycling feel without sudden surges. The brushless rear hub motor delivers 250W and a torque of 35Nm, giving support when starting, riding into a headwind and on gradients of up to 15 degrees under suitable conditions. Motor assistance operates up to 25 km/h. When you want more exercise or want to conserve battery, you can pedal more and use the gears to find a comfortable cadence.

Folds in seconds for train, car and office.

A folding electric bike should be easy to handle even when you are not riding. The DYU SP1 can be folded in around three seconds and has magnetic lock points that keep the wheels together. In the half-folded position the bike can be rolled on its wheels while you steer it by the handlebar, which is handy through stations, lifts and narrow entrances where you would rather not carry the full weight. When the handlebars are also folded down, the overall size is approximately 80 by 72 centimetres. The bike can then be placed under a desk, in a storage room or in the boot of many cars.

Lightweight moulded aluminium frame.

The frame of this folding electric bike is made from 6061 aluminium and formed in a single piece. The construction reduces the need for traditional weld joints and contributes to a stable feel without unnecessary weight. At a net weight of 14 kg, the DYU SP1 is considerably easier to handle than many larger electric bikes. The recommended maximum load is 120 kg. The full-size 20-inch wheels with 1.75-inch wide tyres at the same time give a more traditional cycling feel than the very small wheels found on many folding bikes. The combination of low weight and stable wheel size is particularly well suited to city streets, cycle paths and mixed commuting.

Seven gears for varied terrain.

The DYU SP1 is fitted with a Shimano drivetrain with seven gears, SL-M3157R shifters and an RD-TY500 rear derailleur. This gives the folding electric bike a useful gear range for both flat cycle paths and more demanding gradients. You can choose a lighter gear when starting or climbing and a heavier gear when the pace increases. The gears are also valuable when the battery is removed, since the bike can then be used as a regular mechanical bicycle. It therefore combines the flexibility of a traditional folding bike with the convenience of electric motor assistance.

Disc brakes and lighting for better control.

Front and rear 160 mm disc brakes give the DYU SP1 stable and predictable stopping power. For a folding electric bike used in urban traffic, brakes on both wheels are an important part of control, especially during frequent stops and changing weather conditions. The bike also has front and rear OSRAM lighting that charges via USB-C. The front light has a 1800mAh battery and the rear light a 200mAh battery, with the option to choose fixed or flashing rear light. The IP54 rating gives protection against dust and water splashes in normal use, but the bike should not be submerged in water or cleaned with a pressure washer.

Adjustable for different riders.

The adjustable handlebars allow this folding electric bike to be tailored to riders with a recommended height of approximately 140 to 195 centimetres. The handlebar stem can be adjusted without tools and angled within a range of around 30 degrees. The ergonomic saddle can also be adjusted to create a comfortable riding position. The saddle is 145 mm wide and padded with memory foam, giving support during both short errands and longer commutes. In the unfolded position the DYU SP1 measures approximately 1480 x 630 x 980–1140 mm, giving a normal and easily controlled seated position despite the compact format.

Fully equipped for the next journey.

The DYU SP1 comes with the parts you need to get started with your new folding electric bike. In the package you will find the removable 24V 5Ah powerbank battery, a 24V 1.5A charger, USB cable, front light, rear light and folding pedals. You also receive a user manual, terminal block cover, Allen key, spanner and Phillips screwdriver. The folding pedals help keep the width down during storage. The bike's clean cockpit has no large display, which gives a clear handlebar with fewer components taking up space when the bike is folded.

Choose a smarter folding electric bike.

The DYU SP1 combines low weight, a 250W motor, removable battery and a very compact format. It is built for commuters who want to cycle to the station, take the bike on public transport and continue the journey without relying on a car. With up to 30 kilometres of range, seven Shimano gears and dual disc brakes, you get a folding electric bike that works both with and without motor assistance. Order the DYU SP1 from Wheelyshop and make everyday journeys easier to plan, carry and combine.

Laws & rules

Electric scooter
An electric scooter is considered a bicycle if it has a maximum speed of 20 km/h and a motor with a maximum of 250 W. However, it is important to note that the limit applies to the continuous (nominal) power – which means that the electric scooter may temporarily have a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W.

If the electric scooter exceeds 20 km/h in speed or has a motor with a nominal power of more than 250 W, other rules apply. The next classification is Moped class II and then Moped class IThere are technical requirements, such as braking systems, that must be met for an electric scooter to be classified as a moped.

Essentially, if it reaches up to 25 km/h it is considered Moped class II, while if the speed exceeds 40 km/h and the motor is stronger than 250 W, it is classified as Moped class I. For Moped class I, an AM driving license is required, the vehicle must be registered, and a helmet must be worn. Moped class II requires a driver's license and mandatory use of a helmet. If the electric scooter does not meet the requirements for a bicycle, Moped class I or II, it may not to be used on public roads.

Electric bike
For the requirements to apply to an electric bicycle, the motor must be limited to 250 W nominal (continuous) power and only assist pedaling up to 25 km/hThis means that the engine can temporarily deliver a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W. The electric bike must also be pedaled for the motor to work – it must not be able to drive on its own without the user's pedaling power.

Deviation from these requirements results in the vehicle being classified as moped, which entails other technical requirements, registration requirements, driving license and insurance.

We strongly recommend the use of a helmet, especially if the driver is under 15 years old, although it is not mandatory.
