How to change tyres on your electric scooter: A step-by-step guide

Why change tyres?

A puncture usually means you need to replace the damaged tube. It's a fairly simple repair you can do at home if you have the right tools and instructions. Here's a step-by-step guide to changing the tube and tyre on your e-scooter.

Step 1: Remove the damaged tube

1. Preparation: First, remove the screws that secure the brake to the wheel to free it up. This makes it easier to remove the wheel from the scooter.

2. Remove parts: Remove any decals and plastic covers holding the wheel in place.

3. Remove the wheel: Once all the screws are loose, carefully remove the wheel from the scooter.

4. The brake disc: Unscrew the brake disc, which is usually held on by four or five screws, and set it aside.

5. Removing the tube: Unscrew the valve cap and the nut that holds the tube in place. Press the valve to deflate the tube. Create a gap between the tyre and the rim using a tyre lever, and gently pry the tyre up to remove it completely from the rim. Then take the rim and tube out of the tyre.

1. Install the new tube: Start by inserting the valve into the rim and screwing the nut onto the valve. Push the tube into the tyre and make sure the nut is properly tightened.

4. Put the covers back on: Reattach the plastic cover and any decals you removed.

5. Brake adjustment: Screw the brake back on and adjust it so the brake disc sits as close to the right side as possible for the best performance.
